Less COmplex words
- more communication
I began writing poetry as a way to be understood. I think the most important part of my art is creating an experience where strangers can take those moment to feel understood and to understand others.
In SolidaritY
a Poetic Land acknowleDGment
All non-indigenous people who have made their home here.
Take a breath.
The air we breathe is filled with the past breaths of spirits still watching over their descendants.
Where they have cried.
Where they gathered
Where they danced.
Where they bled.

Watch my spoken word video
A social commentary spoken word video on
the heteronormative expectations of genders.
Womxn , intentionally spelled with an “x” instead of an “a” is a project to talk about the expectations of women and femme identifying people and how their expectations effect us.
I also dug deeper into the meaning and intention behind replacing the “an” with an ‘x' and came to find it to be an important discussion about trans rights and the erasure of trans individuals in the LGBTQI2A+ community.
I further came to not only take this poem as a celebration of breaking out of the cis-normative expectations of women but also what it means to be a woman in todays’ society and how we can practice inclusivity in a way that is more welcoming and accessible for everyone.
